Description: Aamir Hussain Khan is an Indian film actor, director and producer who has established himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi cinema. Starting his career as a child actor in his uncle Nasir Hussain's film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Khan began his professional career eleven years later with Holi (1984) and had his first commercial success with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). He received his first National Film Award (Special Jury Award) for his role in the film Raakh (1989). After seven previous nominations during the 1980s and 1990s, Khan received his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in the major grosser Raja Hindustani (1996) and later earned his second Best Actor award for his performance in the Academy Award-nominated Lagaan, which also marked the debut of his own production company. Following a four-year break from acting, Khan made his comeback playing the title role in the historical Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005), and later won a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his role in Rang De Basanti (2006). The following year, he made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par, for which he received a Filmfare Award for Best Director. This was followed by Ghajini (2008), which became the highest grossing film of that year, and 3 Idiots (2009), which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all-time, unadjusted for inflation. Khan married Reena Dutta on April 18, 1986. They have two children, a son named Junaid and a daughter, Ira. In December 2002, Khan filed for divorce, ending the 15-year marriage. Reena took custody of both children. On 28 December 2005, Khan married Kiran Rao who had been an assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker during the filming of Lagaan. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contributions towards the arts. Sourced from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aamir_khan)
AAMIR IN NEWS
Father's Day was a social media gold mine! A lot of people took the opportunity to show us their dads being dads, in all their delightful glory. Even, superstar Aamir Khan's daughter, Ira Khan couldn't hold herself back by proffering her love for Daddy Aamir on Fathers Day. We are glad that she did, or else this gem of a picture would've still been hidden to the world. Thank You Ira! Ira not only shared this adorable picture, but also gave a sneak peek into her cute childhood memory with Aamir, as she wrote on her Instagram account "My childhood would not have been the same without the chess games you let me win and the monopoly games you always won. You're the best father I could have asked for. Happy Father's Day <3" Recently while Ira went out of the country for a vacation with her friends for the first time, Aamir set a condition for her to call him every 4 hours. Ira willingly agreed to the condition and stayed in touch with her father throughout the trip. Aamir and Ira share a very close bond and this picture is further proof of just how protectively Aamir is seen wrapping his arms around Ira even when she was a child.
It’s hard to imagine Aamir Khan as anything more than the perfectionist, serious actor we know him to be. But that was not always the case. There was a time when Aamir was quite the prankster... don’t believe is? Just ask Madhuri Dixit! Recently during a Twitter chat with her fans the Dhak Dhak star was asked what is the naughtiest thing she had ever done and said that she had run behind Aamir with a hockey stick for playing a prank on her! Her exact words were, “The naughtiest thing I have ever done is that I chased Aamir Khan with a hockey stick on the sets of Dil for playing a prank on me!” What we are wondering is how naughty Aamir’s prank must have been to elicit such an extreme reaction from Madhuri! What do you think guys?
While the nation is swept up in the whole intolerance debate, Aamir Khan still seems determined to pick a few fights. After talking about how intolerant India is and stating that his wife Kiran had suggested that they should leave the country, Aamir had faced severe backlash with Anupam Kher being his harshest critic. Kher had stated that Aamir shouldn’t give his opinion on everything just because he is a superstar. He followed it up with an impassioned specch about the entire issue during the Telegraph National Debate recently.
But it seems that Aamir is determined to have the last word in this debate. During a recent interview he took a dig at Anupam Kher and his wife Kirron Kher by stating, “Maybe Anupam thought I’m referring to the wrong Kiran.” Very nice play on words Aamir but we doubt Anupam will take this jibe lying down. Grab some popcorn guys, this could get interesting!
