Abhay Deol fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief, the quirky actor will soon return to the big screen with his next venture titled Happy Bhaag Jayegi. What’s more, starring opposite the quirky Deol lad is none other than Cocktail’s Diana Penty who had all but disappeared from the big screen after her fantastic debut performance. The first look of the film is out and both the lead actors are seen clad in traditional outfits. Abhay looks dapper in a neat Pathani suit while Diana is wearing a traditional blue and peach number. We love the fact that she has paired her desi outfit with a pair of cool sneakers. Not much is known about the film except that it will be directed by A. Mudassar Aziz and will be produced by Aanand L Rai in association with Eros Now. Tags: Abhay Deol, Diana Penty, Cocktail
The very versatile Abhay Deol is back with yet another film to entertain his fans. The actor will next be seen starring in DOP Sethu Sriram’s debut film as a director, Snafu. Apparently Abhay will play the role of a very dapper corporate consultant who zooms around cracking massive business deals. His character will also have some darker undertones and if anyone can pull off such an interesting role, it’s Abhay Deol. We hear that the film will have a number of action stunts too and the celebrated action director Vijan Master has come on board for it. Vijan Master is known for his larger than life action sequences in Dabangg, Wanted, most of Salman Khan’s blockbusters. Apparently Abhay has gone the whole nine yards with action for the first time in SNAFU under Vijan Master’ tutelage. Vijan master has designed the action in keeping with the realistic soul of the film. Most of the action sequences have been shot in real locations- supermarkets, highways and bylanes of Pune. Talking of the sequence Vijan Master said, “The film is very real, with true to life characters. I wanted the action sequence to look very realistic. There is no space for exaggeration in this film. The action in this film is extended emotion. We put in a lot of hard work to make the sequence look gritty and realistic. Abhay has emoted to perfection, I could not ask for more from him”. Abhay Deol added, “ I have done a little bit of cable work in the past for Honeymoon travels pvt. Ltd. where I had a flying sequence and then for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. But yes, I have not done such intense action where I was working continuously on it for seven days. It is hard work, but I like doing it and I’m enjoying it. And then I’m working with Vijan Master, one of the best”. The action sequence was shot not just through seven days but through night shifts also. A chunk of it was shot in a super market, being a real location it would only be available to the team at night. “This was the most hectic part of the schedule. We are all exhausted but every bit of it was worth the effort. I give full credit to my action director, Vijan Master and Abhay who has brought bit of emotion alive. We are all sleep deprived, but we have a packed schedule ahead in Mumbai. Power to my cast and crew”, signed off Sriram, director, SNAFU. Abhay Deol has quite a few projects lined up in future. Besides Rock The Shaadi and Bounty Hunters, Abhay will also be seen in an Indo-Chinese film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jackie Chan. And with Snafu hitting the floors in July, Abhay Deol’s fans will have plenty to look forward to in future.
Most actors will endorse just about any product as long as the pay is right and it gives them good exposure. But we all know that Abhay Deol is cut from a different cloth. Not only does he not endorse fairness products but he recently also spoke out against them.
While some products are out and out controversial, the problem with promoting fairness products are not readily apparent. However they send out a very negative subliminal message as pointed out by Abhay.
Abhay tweeted, “If Indians were 'White', would there be a 'Dark and Sexy'? Here are some brands to stoke our inferiority complex...”
Besides promoting the inherent aversion to dark skin that many Indians have, these products also seem to tell people that they are expected to be fair-skinned. They create a need to be fair even in the minds of those people who are comfortable with their complexion and thereby prey on the insecurities of people. These products seek to not so much as satisfy a need as create an undesirable one.
He attached a photo of some popular fairness products along with it. Many of these are endorsed by stars like Shahrukh Khan and John Abraham and most people would never dream of criticizing their brands. In such a scenario, we should be thankful to have a star like Abhay who is unafraid to speak his mind.
In fact, few actors know how to take a stand the way Abhay does. When most people were busy whining about the terms set down by music companies, Abhay was the only one to find a unique way to protest. He turned up for an awards ceremony sporting a symbolic ‘black eye’ which helped him rally a number of big celebrities to his cause. A lot of our so-called celebrities could learn a thing or two from this star when it comes to setting an example.
After a long and arduous selection process, director Sethu Sriram has found the perfect girl to star opposite Abhay Deol in his film Snafu. Puja Gupta was was seen in films like FALTU and Go Goa Gone has been finalized as the female lead of the film. She will be playing a character called Aaniya who comes from a small town to make it big in the city. Talking about his Puja, Sriram said, “This role is very critical to the storyline and the girl had to be much more than singing, dancing and looking good. After a lot of deliberation we decided upon Puja.” He further added, “Aaniya is an ambitious small town girl so we needed the vulnerability of a small town girl along with high glamour quotient and who would be a head turner. I auditioned a lot of promising fresh faces and a few upcoming names, some of them were brilliant but Puja fits the bill naturally.” Apparently, even Abhay helped the director find the right girl for the film. Abhay will be seen playing the role of a ruthless corporate professional in the film and his character will have shades of grey in it. So what do you think of Abhay and Puja as the lead pair? Do they make a good on screen couple? Related News: Abhay Deol to play a suave corporate consultant in SNAFU
