HIMESH IN NEWS
Is it a thriller? Is it a parody? Is it a Spoof? Nooooo, it's a Himesh Reshammiya film called “The Xpose” - which is spelled with an X and an accent over the E if you please!! I know you can't wait to hear more, so tighten your seat belts for here goes... Of course, The Xpose stars apro dikra HR as a suave but sanki police inspector turned film hero and then for the very first time and hopefully the very last there is Yo Yo Honey Singh roped in to play a sleazy, cheesy music director. Throw in incidents that are apparently inspired from the dirty politics & rivalry of Bollywood of the 60's, add some random chicks who are wonderfully overly madeup and unnecessarily underdressed and voila you have The Xpose! The, uhmmm, thriller revolves around a murder (anyone who watches this movie will want to murder anybody associated with it!) and a gaggle of suspects. Don't get me wrong, The Xpose is entertaining but only because it is unintentionally, ludicrously funny!! The real hero of The Xpose is its dialogues penned by Bunty Rathod– without them the film would have fallen so flat on its face, it would be dead!! Performances by the whole cast, yes including Irfan Khan, are a bore. Music is trademark HR, so if you are a fan of his brand of music, you will love it. Having said all this, I do want to laud the efforts & earnestness of Himesh Reshammiya for making this film cause this campy thriller which inadvertently tickles your funny bone if nothing else and for that it gets 1 star. Watch it at your own risk or maybe not but let me tell you it was a far more entertaining watch than the Jab Tak Hain Jaans of b-town!!
After a very long time we have a complete album from Himesh Reshammiya and the composer- singer has really capitalized on the opportunity. Read on to find out if the songs for The Xpose live up to Reshammiya’s previous works. Ice Cream is like a mash-up of elements from R.D.Burman songs of the 70s. Everything from Himesh going ‘Ha! Ha!’ to the attempt at growling like Pancham Da, the song feels more like a parody of those times. The ridiculous lyrics like “Ice cream khaoge, Kashmir jaaoge” only add to the fun. Don’t get us wrong, it is ultimately a very entertaining number. Honey Singh and Palak Mucchal complete the vocals for this song. Dard Dilo Ke sung by Mohammed Irrfan sounds like yet another wannabe ‘Tum Hi Ho’ number. The same slow, crooning romantic quality but Mohammaed Irrfan is no Arijit Singh and it just drags on later. Not bad but not very good either. Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara once again features Honey Singh and Himesh Reshammiya. It opens with Honey doing his rap routine though its more of a jazz number. Then Himesh enters with his weird pronunciation of words like ‘raat’ and ‘rahe’ and you’ll be disappointed that this isn’t a remix of the old Bollywood song of the same name. But it is in much the same vein and this slow, jazz inspired song is actually fairly decent. Mika Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Neeti Mohan, Shubhangi Tiwari and Shalmali Kholgade join Himesh for Catch Me If You Can. It’s the title song of sorts and clearly one to add to the suspense and intrigue in the film. This pacy, foot-tapping number which will grow on you in time and you’ll have dhan-te-nan ringing in your ears for hours later. Suroor is the song for die-hard Himesh fans. A slow, haunting track which could be a real treat if you don’t mind Himesh’s nasal singing. Shalmali Kholgadi does well as usual while Honey Singh also backs up the vocals. If a slow number is not your thing, the album also features a club version of the track as well as an arabic mix. Sheeshe Ka Samundar by Ankit Tiwari is a slow poetic number. However, the song takes on a new charm in the reprise version by Rekha Bharadwaj. The music arrangement is much more interesting while Rekha’s rustic vocals do full justice to this ghazal-style number. The theme of Xpose by Neeti Mohan is interesting and adds colour to the backdrop of the film. Irrfan’s voice narrating poetic lines sounds suitably creepy and foreboding. The Xpose mashup is just what you would expect, all the songs mixed together into a loud, thumping mess. We would prefer the songs by themselves. It must be mentioned that every song has either a reprise version or a remix and sometimes both. More options for those who tire of the originals. All the songs of The Xpose will constantly remind you of something else you might have heard somewhere. It’s not plagiarism but Himesh has very cleverly used instruments which were prevalent in the 70s. This gives them that old-school feel without actually ripping off the tunes. Most songs are very entertaining and overall the music has the capacity to break through the clutter. In our opinion, Himesh Reshammiya wins with The Xpose music through sheer volume of songs and remixes.
Himesh Reshammiya is back with yet another campy thriller that is sure to tickle your funny bone if nothing else. The grand trailer opens with a daring shot of Sonali Raut in a see-through white saree that is similar to Zeenat Aman’s look in Satyam Shivam Sundaram. After the right amount of skin show, we suddenly see a shot of a screaming girl falling off a building before it cuts away to Himesh Reshammiya dancing away at a party in swanky clothes. The singer- actor seems to have lost a ton of weight, leaving him looking diminutive and sallow. What follows is a joyride of bad one-liners, double entendres and shots of Himesh sucking his cheeks in to cool.
Also in the mix is Irrfan Khan and we can’t help but wonder what is he doing in such a film? Added to that we have Honey Singh who is also acting in the movie. We understand Honey rapping in every other film but acting in a Himesh Reshammiya movie has us convinced of what a sellout he is. The trailer itself is hugely entertaining in its cheesiness and this campy thriller is sure to be worth a few laughs.

He is a cusp born between two zodiac signs Cancer (ruler Moon and Ketu – Numbers 2 and 7) and Leo (ruler Leo – Number 1) while his destiny number adds up to Number 3 (Jupiter),” explains Bhavikk. “Himesh is influenced by the fastest planet of speed and communication Number 5, which makes him a complete workaholic and someone who likes to do many things at one time,” describes Bhavikk about his personality. “The positive side of this aspect is that he scaled new heights of success, but on a negative side, it makes him restless and impatient and when he loses control over his speech, there is simply no stopping him and as a result he invites unexpected trouble in the form of controversies and criticism”. “Himesh will be now be entering the 43rd year of his life which indicates a great time for him and he will be back with a bang after lying low for a while,” predicts Bhavikk. “As a music director, once again he will be churning out chartbuster music, film after film and his upcoming international album will also receive wide acceptance. On the production side too, his forthcoming projects will meet with critical acclaim and box office success as well” adds Bhavikk. “Wearing a Yellow Sapphire in gold on a Thursday evening (one hour before sunset) will help him amass more wealth and most importantly, make wise investments for the future,” recommends Bhavikk very strongly before signing off.
