She was doing modeling assignments for television commercials before being shortlisted for the role of Chandramukhi (Chanda) in Dev.D. This time she has tied up with the Youtube channel Blush to deliver a hard hitting poem conveyed through an amazing video. Films Of India Titled ‘The Printing Machine’, this amazing poem mocks fun at our tendency to simply read the news and discard it from our minds as we discard the cheap paper it is printed on. Kalki touches on a number of relevant issues and manages to throw so much at you in such a short time that you will be forced to watch this video again and again. We recently caught up with the gorgeous Kalki Koechlin and had a long and candid chat with her. Besides talking about her personal and professional life, the bindaas babe had plenty to say about a number of trending topics. One issue she feels strongly about is the controversial ban on beef imposed by the Maharashtra government. Films Of India Kalki started off by commenting that she does understand the idea that cows are sacred in Hinduism. However she added that it is also food for many people. Her argument is that no matter what you eat, you will end up killing something. She added that its more important to make sure we treat animals well and keep the entire process hygienic. She believes that banning beef will not solve the problem and could lead to black marketing in the long run. The lovely Kalki Koechlin was a speaker at a child sexual abuse conference organized by actor Rahul Bose’s NGO - H.E.A.L. The DevD star took the brave step of revealing that she had been sexually assaulted as a child. Without elaborating further she said that the reason she hasn’t spoken about it before is because she did not want it to simply become a sensational headline since she believes that Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a reality many women have to live with everyday. Yet she feels that sometimes it is important to talk about it. Films Of India Victims of abuse at least need to have somebody to talk to, be it a psychiatrist, parent, or an organization and our country is sadly lacking in such organizations. Praising the work done by Rahul’s NGO the actress urged victims to reach out to someone they trust. The petite actress has always championed women’s causes and kudos to her for opening up about an issue most women aren’t comfortable talking about. At a recent event when asked if she would like to play a desi role she replied that she would love to play a desi, gaon-ki-chhori type of character but feels that her looks would play spoilsport. However the DevD actress did stress the point that she will keep trying to push her barriers in both mainstream as well as independent cinema and she does seem to be staying true to her word. Films Of India In an upcoming film titled 'Margarita With A Straw' Kalki plays a girl suffering from cerebral palsy. While on the other hand she has 'Jia Aur Jia' coming up with Richa Chaddha, which is a road movie about two girls taking a trip through Sweden in a truck.

The comedy video which stars Kalki Koechlin came at a ripe time, having collected 1.3 million views in 3 days. Just when the rest of the country was shaken by the rape epidemic in the country, with the intellectual-elite venting their exasperation through writing, the Dev D actress had gone on to star in an anti-rape video titled “It’s Your Fault”. The video from the YouTube channel All India Bakch*d, which was the result of some collective brain-storming by comedians Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat and Ashish Shakya, known for their political incorrectness.

KALKI'S ANTI-RAPE VIDEO CROSSES 1.3 MILLION The clip was a sarcastic take on the victim-blaming that happens in India. It touched upon topics like the clothes women would wear to invite assault and marital rape. Channel V anchor Juhi Pandey also features in the video with Kalki. Rohan Joshi, in a recent interview, said that: “We want to contribute positively to the conversation about the subject. We hope it makes some people feel like idiots, and we also hope it tells women that we’re not all idiots; a lot of us are on your side, and will always be vocal about it.” The video was directed to those who have “really messed up attitudes about women” and also towards the women “who don’t know that they don’t need to take this sort of shit from anybody.”
