Nawazuddin IN NEWS
Whenever a big Bollywood film is in the works, it tends to attract plenty of controversy from all quarters. However, Shah Rukh’s Raees in particular seems to be a veritable controversy magnet. After running into trouble with the VHP and Shiv Sena, Raees has now landed in a proper legal soup. The film is loosely based on a real life gangster named Abdul Latif who ran a bootlegging business in Gujarat back in the 90s. Now, Abdul’s son Mustak has taken offense and filed a case against nine people associated with the movie including actors Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Mustak has sent them a cease-and-desist legal notice seeking to prevent the film from releasing. He claims that his father was a ‘famous businessman with deep roots in society’ and the movie shows him in a false and negative light. Previously, VHP members had protested the shooting of the film in Gujarat, an act which was in response to SRK’s comments about intolerance. On the other hand, Shiv Sena is unhappy with the fact that a Pakistani actress Mahira Khan is the female lead in the movie. As always, we hope common sense turns out to be the real victor. No good deed goes unpunished - here’s one phrase many public figures are sadly too aware of these days. King Khan is the latest celebrity to face flak for his remarks against intolerance in the country. SRK’s car was pelted with stones on Sunday by a bunch of people who are allegedly connected with the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad). The assault took place in the parking lot of a hotel in Ahmedabad where the cast and crew of SRK’s film Raees are currently residing. Incidentally, King Khan himself was not present in Gujarat on that day. ACP B. U. Jadeja declared in a official statement - “As per the complaint lodged by the Security Officer of the hotel, eight to 10 persons came on bikes and threw stones on cars parked in the open parking lot early this morning. Due to the stone pelting, windscreen of Shah Rukh Khan's car got damaged.”
Shah Rukh himself landed in Ahmedabad later that afternoon. Such incidents only serve to highlight the prevalence of intolerance in our country. Sadly, this irony is completely missed out on the goons who carry out such acts. What do you think about the entire issue guys? Do share your views with us in the comments section below.

To call Nawazuddin Siddui a brilliant actor is definitely an understatement! After playing the role of a journalist in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and a villager in Manjhi, the actor will once again be seen playing the role of a cop in Shah Rukh’s upcoming feature Raees. Nawazuddin’s look from the movie has leaked online and he indeed looks like a fearsome force capable of locking horns with SRK’s gangster avatar in Raees. Clad in a pair of formal clothes and sporting typical cop mustache, Nawaz reminds us of his character in Vidya Balan’s Kahaani. Rahul Dholakia’s Raaes is a gangster story set in Gujarat with Shah Rukh playing the lead role. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan will be seen making her Bollywood debut with this movie opposite King Khan. The films is slated to release in time for Eid next year. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is busy basking in the glory of his latest successful venture Badlapur. Even though Varun Dhawan is the protagonist, Nawazuddin has garnered equal praise for his performance. Over the years, Nawazuddin has emerged as the common man’s actor, somebody who looks like a real person instead of a buffed up caricature. And so comparisons to Irrfan Khan were inevitable. But it seems like neither Irrfan nor Nawaz appreciate it much. The duo who have worked together in the Lunchbox aren’t exactly the best of friends and Irrfan had previously expressed his displeasure with the media drawing parallels between him and Nawazuddin. Now, the Wasseypur actor too has spoken up about the issue in an interview. Nawazuddin stated that comparisons with Irrfan are an insult to both of them as actors. He maintains that Irrfan is a senior performer with his own unique take on acting and they should not be compared in any way. We do understand how the two may not appreciate comparisons of their acting style but when you look at their success story, a similar pattern becomes apparent. Both actors struggled for years to achieve their rightful place in the industry, they have both relied on sheer acting chops alone and established themselves as some of the finest actors we have.
There is no doubt that Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a dedicated actor. Known for portraying dark and intense characters, Nawazuddin has replaced Farhan Akhtar in Shahrukh Khan’s Raees. He will be playing a policeman in the film and the role demands Nawazuddin to put on 20 kilos. The Gangs Of Wasseypur star already started pumping up for the role and it will be interesting to see him looking stouter than his usual skinny self. Raees is a crime-drama starring Shahrukh Khan and Sonam Kapoor and King Khan will play the role of a bootlegger in the film. It is based in Gujarat and will go on floors after the monsoons this year. It is slated to release in time for Eid in 2015.
