According to reports, Rishi has plans to revive the famous RK Films banner with a remake of Awara which will see the father and son reprising the roles of Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor respectively. However, Rishi won’t be seen wielding the megaphone for Awara like he did for Aa Ab Laut Chalen as he claims to be more comfortable in front of the camera. With the father-son duo ready for a significant on screen adventure, we’re sure the woman in their life Neetu Singh will be happy with the way things are shaping up.
After his villainous turn in Agneepath, Rishi Kapoor is the latest to join the line of actors who have portrayed the dreaded gangster, Dawood Ibrahim on screen. The film which will be directed by Nikhil Advani has Arjun Rampal and Irrfan Khan playing RAW agents who arrest and extradite Rishi Kapoor (Dawood Ibrahim) from Pakistan to India via road. However, Rishi won’t get to use Dawood’s name in the film which has reportedly been named D-Day. But of course, there have been movies and actors who have been there and done that as far as Dawood Ibrahim is concerned. So here’s a list of other Bollywood actors who appeared in movies depicting the life of the infamous underworld don. Ram Gopal Varma’s Company saw Ajay Devgn’s Dawood playing mentor to Viveik Oberoi’s Chhota Rajan. The film was rumoured to be based on the split of the D-Company and even had references to Bollywood being financed by the underworld. D, directed by Vishram Sawant and produced by Ram Gopal Varma is supposed to be the prequel to Company. The movie outlined the transformation of Dawood Ibrahim from an unruly constable’s son to an underworld Don after a chance witness of a murder leads him to join the killers’ rival gang. The movie had Randeep Hooda portraying the mafia kingpin Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai had Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi playing roles inspired from the lives of Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim respectively. Emraan stood out in the film with his cold, vengeful and stubborn act as Dawood to his mentor Ajay’s calm and principled one as Mastan. The movie’s sequel - Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again - will reportedly see Dawood making an appearance again. The movie, Shootout At Lokhandwala also had a mention of Dawood Ibrahim as it dealt with the operations of his henchmen in Mumbai. Its sequel, Shootout At Wadala will see Sonu Sood enacting the role of the Don with John Abraham playing his rival, Manya Surve. Other movies which were either based or saw the presence of the underworld don include Black Friday and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam. While the former outlined the story leading to the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, the latter was a comedy which saw RAW colluding with a drama company to botch an underworld don’s attempt to destabilize the Indian government.
Rishi Kapoor has been constant inspiration: Hrithik By Arya Sen Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, who is working first time with Rishi Kapoor in the remake of ‘Agneepath’ was awed by Chintu uncle’s (as Rishi Kapoor most famously known as in the industry) energy and fitness at this age. Hrithik gets into the shoes of the iconic character Vijay Dinanath Chauhan played by megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the original version. Besides the highly emotional scenes the two actors have also done some action scenes together in the remake directed by producer-director Karan Johar. "Chintu uncle has always been a source of inspiration for me, not just me but I think every Indian actor has somewhere tried to emulate the vortex of energy that is Rishi Kapoor. And he continues to inspire,” says the actor. “I was amazed at his level of strength and fitness while shooting the action sequence. He took some bad falls was bruized n scarred but just kept going!" he adds. The original film directed by Mukul Anand in 1990 unfortunately proved to be a dud at the box-office but it brought Bachchan his first National Award.
