SAIF IN NEWS
Looks like the Nawab Of Pataudi will have to finally learn to cook his own meals for a while. No no, Kareena hasn’t gotten into her Ki And Ka avatar though it would be interesting to see Saif as a stay at home husband. Apparently the actor will be seen playing the lead in the Hindi remake of the popular John Favreau film Chef. So naturally he will have to learn some killer cooking skills in order to convincingly play the role of an accomplished cook. Right now the hottest chef in B-town has to be Amitabh Bachchan’s character in Cheeni Kum so Saif has some rather large boots to fill. Still its always fun when Saifu takes up a challenge. We still haven’t forgotten his stint as Boris the Russian in Go Goa Gone! Interestingly, Kareena is rather overjoyed that her Nawab will be picking up some culinary skills, after all, which wife wouldn’t be!
If there is one thing that can be said with absolute certainty about Karan Johar, it’s this - the man recognizes raw talent. Ever since he kickstarted the careers of Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, the trio have never looked back. And now the maverick director is set to do the same for a couple of new star kids with the sequel to Student Of The Year. The latest buzz around B-town is that the Dharma Productions head honcho has signed on none other than Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan and Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara for Student Of The Year 2. Ishaan has always displayed a penchant for the movies, a fact which has been very evident from his Instagram posts. On the other hand, Saif himself had revealed that his daughter Sara is very keen to join the film industry. What’s more, even Shahid and Saif are on good terms with each other lately and we hear that they get along quite well on the sets of their upcoming movie Rangoon too. So is SOTY really happening with Ishaan and Sara? What do you think guys? Do they make a good pair? Tags: Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar
We all know what a spicy relationship Kareena and Shahid had in the past so one would naturally expect Bebo’s Nawab to be resentful towards Sasha. But, surprise surprise, Saif has absolutely no issues with Shahid Kapoor! In a recent interview Saif Ali Khan revealed that there is no enmity between him and the Haider star. Saif said, “Why should there be any enmity between me and Shahid? There is so much going on, people trying to sell anything... As far as I am concerned, we really don't have any issues.” What’s more, our gracious Nawab even called Shahid a very decent guy and added that if they had any issues, they wouldn’t have signed Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon together. And we would have to agree, a jealous hubby would have never signed on a film with his wife’s ex-boyfriend. Sorry folks, but it looks like there really is no drama here.
Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif’s upcoming feature Phantom will feature a number of massive action sequences. We bring you all the dope about the action scenes in the film. Filmmaker Kabir Khan has action in his DNA. About the challenges of shooting the action sequences in Phantom, he says, “The Film is has been shot all over the world right from Beirut, Canada, Chicago, Punjab and Kashmir." Beirut Action Sequence While shooting in Beirut, director Kabir Khan was aware that shooting in these strife-torn locations would be a sensitive matter. The shooting was on a huge refugee camp created on the Syria- Lebanon border which was about half-an-hour's drive from Lebanon which happens to be a Shia Muslim area. There were about 400 locals dressed as rebel soldiers and a movement of about 25 trucks and jeeps for the sequence. Being a massive set-up it attracted a lot of attention. They used real guns for this entire action sequence. The entire action sequence looked so real, that the army thought a real rebellious movement was going on. The entire action sequence was directed by action director Sham Kaushal. Punjab sequence The filmmakers created Pakistan in Malerkotla in Punjab. A entire Pakistani marketplace was created in Punjab, which they dressed it up with posters and flags etc. The entire action sequence was shot in the middle narrow busy and crowded lanes. This sequence had a lot of intensive car chases and crashes scenes, which does required a lot of perfection and at most care while shooting them. They had to go through a lot of permissions including the street shops as there were a lot of movement and security issues during the shot. Eventually everything went well and it turned out to be great schedule where everyting ended up as it was planned. Canada Sequence As the director Kabir Khan had always maintained that he prefers real locations instead of relying on CGI (computer-generated imagery) because the actual backdrop adds more depth to his story. The entire crew flew down to Canada There they did a high end real car chase sequences. It was an exciting schedule which involved cutting the edge sequence under the expert Action Director Garry who has directed a lot of movies before. Also logistics was one of the major issues while shooting here as everything had to be put in place and arranged weeks before. But eventually all the hard work payed off. Kashmir Phantom was shot in north Kashmir ski resort of Gulmarg and later also shot in the south Kashmir's Pahalgam hill station. They shot a huge blast sequence in the snows and the most difficult part was of the entire schedule was it was planned in the peak of winters when the entire valley was covered under a 10ft blanket of snow all around. Logistically, shooting here was very difficult as everyday all the equipment’s had to be carried up and bought down at the end of the day but the enthusiasm and hard work of the locals was heart-warming. Phantom is all set to release on 28th August, 2015.
Fans of Saif and Katrina were recently treated to a behind-the-scenes look at their characters in their upcoming movie Phantom. The videos specifically introduce us to their character backgrounds and the sort of role they will have to play in the movie. Saif is a disgraced Indian commando called Daniyal. Chosen by RAA to go on a suicide mission since he is expendable and eager to prove himself to his country. He is a troubled man and we must say our Nawab looks more than capable of pulling off this complex role.
Katrina Kaif on the other hand plays the role of Nawaz Mistry in Phantom and this latest behind-the-scenes video introduces us to her character. Kabir Khan talks about how his experience as a journalist helped him shape Nawaz's character which is again complex and layered. She plays the role of a security adviser who works with NGOs. She somehow gets embroiled in Saif's plan to murder the terrorists responsible for the Mumbai attacks. If you think you have figured Phantom's plot out, think again. You can be sure Kabir Khan has quite a few tricks up with sleeve. What are you looking forward to most in the movie? Do let us know in the comments section below.
