Actor Om Puri, who is known for some of the most memorable roles in Bollywood in films like Ardh Satya, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, East Is East, Hera Pheri and The Reluctant Fundamentalist, was accused by his wife Nandita of domestic violence. The actor has been absconding since her complaint to the police, who have booked him under Section 324 (causing hurt by dangerous means), 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
The actor had allegedly attacked his wife with a stick after an argument over the maintenance for the flat. This is not the first time Om has been in the news for his spats with Nandita. The cracks first began to appear after Nandita wrote his biography Unlikely Hero: The Story Of Om Puri in 2009, where she mentioned unsavoury instances of his affair with the domestic help.
Nandita, however, maintained that they had begun drifting apart in 2008 when Om was reconciling with his first wife Seema. The couple, despite washing their dirty linen in public, have had an on-again, off-again equation ever since. They separated two years ago, to prepare their son Ishaan for the inevitable divorce. But this particular incident has spiraled their domestic arrangement out of hand.
