The comedy video which stars Kalki Koechlin came at a ripe time, having collected 1.3 million views in 3 days. Just when the rest of the country was shaken by the rape epidemic in the country, with the intellectual-elite venting their exasperation through writing, the Dev D actress had gone on to star in an anti-rape video titled “It’s Your Fault”.
The video from the YouTube channel All India Bakch*d, which was the result of some collective brain-storming by comedians Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat and Ashish Shakya, known for their political incorrectness.
The clip was a sarcastic take on the victim-blaming that happens in India. It touched upon topics like the clothes women would wear to invite assault and marital rape. Channel V anchor Juhi Pandey also features in the video with Kalki.
Rohan Joshi, in a recent interview, said that: “We want to contribute positively to the conversation about the subject. We hope it makes some people feel like idiots, and we also hope it tells women that we’re not all idiots; a lot of us are on your side, and will always be vocal about it.”
The video was directed to those who have “really messed up attitudes about women” and also towards the women “who don’t know that they don’t need to take this sort of shit from anybody.”
