CINTAA lends support to ‘Sholay’ editor in penury
MS Shinde, award winning editor of ‘Sholay’, will soon be better off than his present state. While he has already received help from some organization, now the Cine and TV artistes Association (CINTAA) has come forward with support for the aging retired editor.
Sources from the organization reveal that they have presented the veteran some monetary help. “CINTAA helped him. They send him a cheque seeing his condition,” says an insider. The exact amount of money remained undisclosed though.
Shinde, 81, had pretty much been in a nightmare as he had to shift from his former house to PMGP colony of Dharavi last year. This happened when the building in Parel where he lived for 48 years collapsed and the building owner refused any alternative accommodation. And this happened while the industry was celebrating the 35 years of Sholay. When it releases, the only award that Sholay had received was for Best Editing. Shinde had also edited films such as ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’. He continues to live in the slums with his daughter Achlain.
