We need more superstars: Karan Johar
Karan Johar has shown preference of working only with stars. However as he goes onto direct his first films without Shah Rukh Khan he says there is a desperate need in the industry to create more superstars.
Talking about giving chances to youngsters he says, “I think it is the age of the youth and the age of the young talent. Even production houses are going on that track. We need to create new talents in every aspects.”
Keeping that in perspective he has already been giving chances to new directors like Soham Shah, Nikhil Advani, Ayan Mukerji and Puneet Malhotra. “I am actually taking a leaf out of some other great people. Like Yash Raj did a tremulous thing by making Band Baaja Baarat and then there was a Vikramaditya Motwani with Udaan. We need many more Band Baajas and Udaans to combat the superstar phenomenon,” he says. “I am part of it. We created it! But we can’t just create an industry out of five brilliant superstars. We need 50 of them!” he immediately adds, clarifying his stance on ‘combating superstar phenomenon’.
Clearly KJo would be hoping to create some stars with his next film Student of The Year. He has already comes to rescue of Imran Khan’s diminishing stardom when he cast the actor in I Hate Luv Storys.
