Ram Sampath has composed the music for Riteish and Pulkit Samrat’s upcoming satire Bangistan. Let’s see what this musical maverick has managed to conjure up this time
Ishq Karenge is a nice semi-Qawalli styled number with a good foot-tapping rhythm going for it. Sung effectively by Sona Mohapatra, Abhishek Nailwal and Shadab Faridi, the composition itself may sound stale but Sampath manages to freshen it up somewhat. The techno factor amps up in the EDM version of the song which may not be to everyone’s liking.
Hogi Kranti has an undertone of the famous ditty ‘We shall overcome’ but with a nice satirical twist. The marching tune will have you tapping to the song in no time and Ram Sampath and Abhishek Nailwal’s vocals work very well. A lot of thought has been put into this seemingly basic track making it a rare treat.
Aditi Singh Sharma, Benny Dayal, Neeraj Sridhar and Janusz Krucinski come together for Saturday Night, an out and out party song. The arrangement of the track is brilliant though once again Sampath does nothing special with the number. However it still works as a club number.
Rituraj Mohanty and Ram Sampath team up for Maula, a beautiful and reflective number with some hard-hitting lyrics by Puneet Krishna. The devotional undertones of the track are ironical given the nature of the song which feels like it was crafted lovingly for this very film.
Siddharth Basrur and Ram Sampath do an excellent job with Meri Zidd. This one is a solid rock ballad that starts off slowly but quickly picks up on its powerful riffs. This is the kind of song where Sampath truly shines and Siddharth only adds to the fun.
Suraj Jagan and Abhishek Nailwal team up for Iss Duniya Se Ladna Hai, a rousing anthem like number jam-packed with attitude. Sampath again manages to give us fresh sounds without making things too noisy.
Overall, Ram Sampath has crafted a surprisingly deep music album for what seems to be a satirical comedy film. He is definitely one of the finer music directors we have today and this album definitely proves that fact.
