The Sonu Nigam controversy has been trending ever since he had tweeted about the loudspeaker and azaan. On April 17, Sonu Nigam tweeted – “God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India” Undoubtedly, India is a very sensitive country, especially religions and so started the drama…
Most of Sonu Nigam’s friends are Muslims and most of them do not like his comment. Wajid (of Sajid Wajid) tweeted, “Yesterday, @sonunigam that everyone has thr own point of view but that can be said without hurting others sentiments.hope u’ll understand whr comng frm. I’m hurt as my dearest brother @sonunigam tweeted such words about #Azaan n not being a Muslim #Gundagiri knowing U never expected ths not U”. Mika Singh tweeted, “Big bro I respect u lot as a singer .. I think you should change your house and stay somewhere else instead of changing loud speakers.”
As a challenge, West Bengal Maulvi who had announced that anyone who shaves off Sonu Nigam’s hair and garlands him with torn shoes will get prize money of Rs. 10 lakhs from him. Sonu Nigam seems to take no offence and goes bald! One of his closest of friends, Aalim Hakim is a celebrity hairstylist, shaves his hair off to win the challenge. Aalim Kakim talks taking Sonu’s side, “Sonu is a very God fearing man. He believes in each and every religion. He loves everyone. He is a great human being, a great soul. Whatever success he has got is because of the sort of human being that he is. You can’t manipulate such kind of success,” Aalim said. “Most of Sonu’s friends are Muslims. We don’t talk about Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs…It’s all about humanity,” Aalim added.
After so many years Sonu Nigam has finally got some attention. But isn’t this too much of a reaction from everybody? People who aren’t even related to this topic are tweeting their takes. Indians really need to take things lightly and stop making issues about such tweets!
