The trailer of Imtiaz Ali's latest film Highway was launched yesterday at a Mumbai multiplex and we must say it looks very promising. The film, presented by Sajid Nadiadwala, is a road journey traversing six states of north India and stars Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda in the lead. The two and half minute trailer shows a sweet and innocent looking Alia getting kidnapped by a bunch of thugs including Randeep Hooda who plays a typical desi gunda. It has the premise of a classic road movie as we hear Alia talk about how she does not want to go back, neither does she want to reach her destination. She just wants to stay on the highway forever since it is beautiful. We see the timid Alia slowly finding her freedom on the road as she transforms into a lively and cheerful young girl. The scruffy Randeep grows fond of her over time forming an unlikely bond between the two. We can't wait to see what this off-beat and yet endearing plot will lead to. Scored with some fantastic music by maestro A. R. Rahman, this trailer wondefully conveys how the journey itself is the true destination.
Highway has been produced by Imtiaz Ali's production house Window Seat Films and is his first production. Imtiaz says, “Highway was made on the road, on the go. It needed more care. Luckily I had the best people in the team. And the movie has changed us all a bit.”
Sajid Nadiadwala adds, "Presenting a film like Highway is a matter of honour for me. The film was mounted and executed in a very short time and I am so happy with the way it has turned out. Imtiaz's craft and Rahman's music have come together like always to create the magic that they are known for. Now with the trailer out, we are waiting for the world to join us on this special journey."
Highway will release worldwide on February 21st, 2014.
