08-11-2014

Legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan has dazzled us over the years with a number of powerful performances. His varied roles have earned him many titles such as ‘the angry young man’ and ‘the Shahenshah of Bollywood’ and nobody can deny that he deserves all the accolades and awards heaped upon him. Whether he is dancing as a woman or terrorizing baddies in a costume, Bachchan is one actor who never fails to entertain us. Even at the age when most men retire to a life of comfort, Bachchan is busy experimenting with his looks for his upcoming movie Piku. In honour of the superstar of many faces, we decided to bring you the top 10 weirdest looks of Amitabh Bachchan.

Shahenshah:

Films Of India

The film that earned Bachchan his title, Shahenshah was a superhit vigilante flick made all the more entertaining thanks to Bachchan’s iconic alter-ego with the silver-streaked hair. Audiences loved our hero’s transformation from a simple guy into the vengeful, wild-eyed Shahenshah who could parry swords and bullets alike with his vambraced forearms.

Ajooba:

Films Of India

Breaking away from his angry young man image, Bachchan played a fantasy super-hero in Ajooba, complete with a shiny mask and flashy costume. Though not the most inventive get-up, Big B played the role with full conviction.

Mere Angane Mein - Laawaris

Films Of India

A fractured arm did not stop our superstar from dressing up as a woman for the hilarious ‘Mere Anganey Mein’ song from Laawaris. This bright and peppy number proved that Bachchan was just as adept at comedy as he was as an action hero.

Khuda Gawah:

Films Of India

For Mukul Anand’s epic, Khuda Gawah Amitabh Bachchan played an Afghani tribal leader complete with a beard and turban. Few people could have pulled off the character the way Big B did with his towering personality.

Eklavya:

Films Of India

Bachchan’s second innings in B-town was accompanied by a number of iconic and weird roles. In Eklavya and Paheli, Big B went for a complete folk Rajasthani avatar and proved very impressive.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom:

Films Of India

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom may have bombed at the box office but everybody loved Bachchan’s maverick avatar in the title song. Only a star like Bachchan could have pulled off his character’s loud, garish clothes and feathered hat.

The Great Gatsby:

Films Of India

Big B made his Hollywood debut in grand style with Leornardo DiCaprio’s The Great Gatsby. He looked dapper with his lush white beard and moustache as he played the character of Meyer Wolfsheim to perfection.

Aladin:

Films Of India

Amitabh Bachchan played the genie in Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladin. His trademark white beard and flowing hair added to the magic of his character which sadly did not translate to the rest of the film making it one of Big B’s few failures.

Paa:

Films Of India

Out of all the weird transformations Big B has undergone for his films, nothing compares to Paa in which he plays a Progeria afflicted young boy called Auro. The actor underwent an intensive transformation which involved intensive use of prosthetics. The end result is completely unrecognizable as the tall, dapper star we know so well.

Piku:

Films Of India

Up next for Bachchan is Piku which is based on the relationship between a father and daughter with Deepika playing the role of Bachchan’s daughter. A recently released still from the film showed a chubby looking Bachchan sporting a paunch and it has us very intrigued about the film.
