Top 5 most embarrassing films of 2014

17-12-2014

As we approach the end of another fun-filled year in B-town it is time to think back and review the quality of the films Bollywood produced this year. While some might argue that we didn’t have too many classy movies in 2014, nobody can deny that we did have plenty of embarrassing, cringe-worthy movies that made us question our sanity. We have handpicked the top 5 most embarrassing ones just for you so that you know why you should stay miles away from them if you haven’t already fallen prey to their charms.

Creature 3D:

Films Of India

A film about Bipasha Basu and a badly animated mythological creature, what could possibly go wrong? Plenty, if Bipasha’s Creature 3D is anything to go by. A film that promised to deliver India’s Godzilla ended up looking like a poor copy of Mallika Sherawat’s Hiss which is saying something. Still, Creature 3D almost crosses the line into the campy zone, that is to say that it’s so bad that it is almost good at times. Definitely not worth your money but maybe a bit of your time if you have plenty of it.

Gunday:

Films Of India

Way back at the start of 2014, Gunday was one of the early giants to look forward to. With a killer starcast like Ranveer, Arjun and Priyanka as well as those brilliant songs, we all waited with bated breath for YRF to weave its magic. Instead we got a half-baked script with some truly terrible dialogues, not to mention the dollops of over-acting thrown into the mix. We tried very hard to like the movie and the movie in turn tried its utmost to disappoint us. In the end, the movie won and is now the lowest ranking film on IMDb. Of course, these is a conspiracy theory surrounding that but many people who paid good money for the tickets will agree with the rating.

The Xpose:

Films Of India

If you thought Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘The Xpose’ would be anything more than a campy thriller, you might miss out on a lot of sarcasm in this feature. But the king of nasal crooning surpassed himself by crafting a truly ridiculous movie with some of the worst performances you will see this year. But at least it doesn’t pretend to be a mainstream film, and was funny enough to spawn a number of spoofs including the hilarious Game Of Thrones version of the trailer.

Action Jackson:

Films Of India

Prabhudheva has never been a very serious film-maker but with Action Jackson he decided to pile on the craziness to such an extent that it ended up looking being a truly terrible movie. Blame it on the ludicrous plot, the silly dialogues or the terrible performances, it is hard to find something to love in Action Jackson except maybe for Prabhudheva’s dance. What makes this movie truly embarrassing is that it stars one of our finest actors doing anything but acting. We sincerely hope Ajay Devgn bounces back with something better soon.

Humshakals:

Films Of India

What can we say about Humshakals that hasn’t been said already by the film’s stars themselves? First Bipasha found the movie too embarassing to even be a part of the promotions, and this coming from an actress who believes that Creature 3D is ‘cinema’. Then even Saif spoke up and said that Humshakals was a big mistake. If you still want to be pig-headed then go ahead and watch this muddled, stupid film which tries very hard to be funny but fails every time. If you do find anything to love about the movie we are sure even director Sajid Khan would want to hear it. As for the rest of us, we are content watching his sister’s Happy New Year which feels like it’s the Godfather by comparison.
