As we approach the end of 2014, it’s time to look back in retrospect at what Bollywood had to offer this year. Going through the box office collections of the films this year, we realized that even if we haven’t had many brilliant movies, we had an equal number of movies entering the 100 Crores club as last year. We bring you the details of the top 5 earners and we are sure you must have already a guessed which ones those are.
At number five we have Salman’s first feature of 2014, Jai Ho. Inspite of not being as successful as expected it stands as the fifth highest grossing movie of the year with collections of 116 Crores nett, and it managed to enter the 100 Crore club within 10 days.
Ajay Devgn’s Singham Returns was loved by audiences who flocked to screens and ensured that it makes it to this list at number four. It managed to enter to enter the 100 Crore club at twice the time taken by Jai Ho, that is, 5 days.
Hrithik Roshan too remained a top contender this year with his much awaited Bang Bang finally hitting the screens. He managed to rake in 181.03 Crores and like Singham Returns, made it to the 100 Crore mark within 5 days.
Happy New Year:
Shah Rukh’s Happy New Year is one of only two films to reach the double century mark this year. It collected a cool 202 Crores and entered the 100 Crore club in a mere 3 days. Of course it does remain the biggest grosser overseas this year but in domestic collections it was surpassed only by Salman second film of the year – Kick.
Sallu’s Kick was always expected to be a massive hit and it did not disappoint one bit. Not only did it manage to rake in a staggering 231.85 Crores but also became Salman’s biggest success till date. However, Kick took longer than Happy New Year to reach the 100 Crore mark, that is it took five days.
The three other films which made it to the 100 Crore mark were Akshay Kumar’s Holiday, Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor’s Ek Villain and Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s 2 States.
