We have all seen and loved the kind of movies that made Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood. But what about those lesser known ventures of the superstar that we are sure even he would like to forget? We present to you some of SRK’s biggest flops that prove that even the great Shah Rukh is prone to failures.
2004 was one of the biggest years for SRK. He had three massive releases in the form of Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara and Swades, all of which are still counted amongst his best movies. But few people remember a fourth SRK film that released that year – Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke. A mystery flick starring SRK and Raveena Tandon, this atrocious movie was actually shot a decade ago but did not see the light till 2004. Featuring terrible performances across the board this is one movie SRK would have loved to keep buried.
Shah Rukh once played a triple role in a movie called English Babu Desi Mem way back in 1996. The titled itself should tell you why this is a film SRK would like you to forget ever happened. Featuring a terrible storyline and worse screenplay, this movie deserves a place of honour on this list.
Ketan Mehta’s Maya Memsaab holds the distinction of a rumoured censored scene in which SRK had stripped for the movie. Other than that, Maya Memsaab is also regarded as a certified flop and definitely did not go down well with the masses thanks to its matured content.
If you are planning an SRK movie marathon, one film you should definitely leave out is Zamana Deewana. This SRK – Raveena Tandon starrer was not only a box-office turkey but it also a pretty boring movie.
Finally, we have Oh Darling Yeh Hai India, another flop starring SRK and Deepa Sahi. However, we feel that this was one movie which should have done better. We suppose people failed to grasp the idea that the entire movie was actually a parody of famous scenes from conventional Bollywood movies. It is a good strong satire of Bollywood conventions, one we feel would have performed better had it released a decade later.
