Deepika Padukone has had a fantastic career so far. And even though other actresses like Kareena and Priyanka can boast of more films, Deepika is probably the only actress who has played characters hailing from so many different parts of the country. Let’s take a look!
Angie – Finding Fanny
Even though she had played a catholic girl in Cocktail, it wasn’t until Finding Fanny did we get to see the true Goan girl inside her. Confident, quirky and fearless, Deepika perfectly embodied the character with grace. And besides, she looked pretty as a picture in those Goan dresses!
Meenamma – Chennai Express
Loved by many, hated by some, Deepika’s exaggerated act of a Tamilian girl in Chennai Express is undeniably wacky. She put her soul into a character that utterly ignores her inherent grace and manages to get quite a few chuckles.
Leela – Goliyon Ki Raas Leela
If you thought only Aishwarya could dazzle in those traditional Gujarati ghagra-cholis, you simply haven’t seen Deepika in Bhansali’s Ram Leela. Prim, graceful and amazingly sensuous, Deepika skilfully captures the poise and stance her character demands.
Mohini – Happy New Year
If you thought Meenamma was silly, check out Dippy’s Marathi mulgi act in Happy New Year. Again, Deepika displayed a surprising confidence and conviction when it came to pulling off such a silly role.
Piku – Piku
And finally, the film we have been waiting for – Piku. Smart, matured and incredibly gorgeous, Deepika’s Bong look in Piku is bang on. Not only does she herself embody the ideal of an independent and educated young woman but she also provides the perfect foil for Bachchan. What more could you ask for?
