Karan Johar has added a British feather to his already full hat.
The director producer of some of the highest-grossers overseas, like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kal ho naa ho, and is now ambassador of the 'Visit London' campaign, has now been invited for the greatest global sports event- the London Olympics, 2012. Johar is the only Indian specially invited apart from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Talking fo the opportunity, Karan mentioned in an interview earlier, “Had you asked me a few days ago if I intended to go to London — it’s virtually my second home — during the Olympics, I’d have said, ‘No chance’. I’ve been shooting non-stop for my film Student Of The Year and the TV show that I’m judging (Jhalak Dikhla Jaa). Life has been very hectic. When this invitation came through, I jumped at the opportunity. After all, it’s a very prestigious event.”
Karan plans to leave for London on July 26 and will return in a couple of days, to shoot for his film SOTY.
KJo will be joining 506 other dignitaries as they gather for the opening ceremony on July 27. He will be cheering the athletes from India and will have a seat in the specially reserved box at the venue.
Guess stardom and shooting extensively internationally has its privileges!
