Bollywood’s served as the launch-pad to many who didn’t originally plan to be actors- be it Irani wafer store man Boman Irani, or marketing exec Parineeti Chopra, or assistant directors Arjun Kapoor or Hrithik Roshan.
There’s always, however, been a considerable number of cricketers who’ve starred in films- be it Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli, or even Kapil Dev. Joining the ranks in Kai Po Chhe, however, is international cricketer of the Australian team- Shaun Tait. Kai Po Che is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book- The Three Mistakes of My Life. While Ashish Nehra has been roped in to train the lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput for his role in the movie, it was him who suggested that director Abhishek Kapoor involve Shaun in the movie.
“Ashish suggested Shaun’s name when the makers were brainstorming on who to cast for the part. But unlike Ashish, Shaun will play a prominent role in the film. UTV is in final talks with Shaun, who has shown interest in the film,” says a source.
The cricketer is clear that regardless of all glamour, his commitment is to the Australian cricket team before to any other deal. About Tait, the source adds, “Cricket will always come first for him. He liked the script and wants to do the film, but he will only give them a go-ahead if his timings work out.”
We’re sure all cricket fans and young ladies wouldn’t mind watching him on the masala screen!
