While 2013 was a great year for Bollywood, we did see many A list actors miss the moolah train. While some like Salman did not have a single release others simply failed to make a mark. 2014 however promises a whole bunch blockbusters, with a number of biggies set to go head to head. And the audience is in for a treat.
Right at the start, Sallu is ready to claim 2014 for his own with Jai Ho. A typical Salman Khan masala entertainer, the film is about one hunk's fight against injustice and corruption. With plenty of car chases, head smashes and dances involving pelvic thrusts, this will be Salman's first release in over a year.
Akshay Kumar's action-thriller film Holiday is about an army officer who exposes a terrorist conspiracy. Directed by A R Murgadoss, it's the remake of the Tamil blockbuster Thupakki and promises to be just as entertaining.
After his mainstream action avatar in Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan will play an alcoholic who tries to take on the corrupt system in 2014's P.K. Anything with Aamir in it will definitely raise expectations all around.
Pyaar Ke Side Effects was a delightful tale about the pitfalls of dating. The 2014 sequel, Shaadi Ke Side Effects will focus on life after marriage. What's more, it features a more stellar cast as compared to the original with Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan playing the lead pair.
Saif and Katrina are up for delivering some serious action in Kabir Khan's Phantom. Shot in Beirut and Lebanon, the film is a gritty spy thriller and may turn out to be the hit that the Nawab has been longing for.
One of the most awaited collaborations will be auteur Anurag Kashyap and Ranbir Kapoor coming together for Bombay Velvet. Starring Ranbir and Anushka Sharma, it will be interesting to see what the talented young Kapoor boy delivers under the guidance of Anurag's directorial genuis.
With Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Rajnikanth all having releases this year, we are sure to see a battle of the titans at the box office in 2014.
