The actress, who is known for her controversial and bold roles in Bangla cinema, claimed that when Bhatt called her up on April 1, she thought it was a joke. "However, I went to Mumbai and met him and it all fell into place."
The actress admits it is a dream break for her. "It is a kind of character that I have never portrayed and it is a very bold script," she said.
Paoli made her debut with the Bengali film Agnipariksha in 2006 and won several accolades for her Kaalbela, directed by critically acclaimed director Gautam Ghose. She has also shared screen space with Bipasha Basu in Shob Charitro Kalponik directed by Rituparno Ghosh, she created a huge stir for her nude scene in the film Chhatrak which was premiered at the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals.
Paoli defends her roles, saying, "As an actor, I have no inhibitions. I watch a lot of bold movies... the way I have been brought up, the kind of cinema I have been exposed to … I don't think I should have a problem with my body.. I have done a lot of bold movies... End of the day, it is about the mindset," she says.
Paoli says she has had to shed a lot of weight for the erotic thriller, is absolutely thrilled with the response she has received so far.
Her bare back did manage to shower her with a lot of attention, but at the end of it, it’s only her acting talent that will help her attain a class in Bollywood. Otherwise, she’ll be just amongst those girls who stripped for fame, but vanished after a spate of forgettable films!
